First of all, great work! Thank you a lot for implementing the wallet app (one of the most crucial points for AUR to be a success, in my opinion)

As I understand, the wallet app is downloading the whole blockchain (similar to the desktop wallet)? If so, are there any plans to implement a "lightweight" wallet app like electrum that doesn't need the blockchain stored on the phone?

This wallet is derived from schildbachs wallet. It's SPV, so it's only downloading block headers afaik. Even the bitcoin version doesn't need extreme amounts of storage. There's no problem.

No problem ;).

btw: been thinking... depending on how the airdrop works, if it's possible to identify oneself as icelandic citizen number 872349872 using a phone, wouldn't it be great to put the airdrop claim functionality into the wallet app? That way all one needs to do is download the app and have the national id-card sign a message ("please send airdrop money to AL8vRddTujqaFJQ3feZpg1jYHz6Jv2Rkwc, signed: citizen 98123989234") via nfc or however the process works (I have no idea). Anyone know this?

I think it's something like this:
http://www.mobiilivarmenne.fi/en/faq/

Hmm.. not sure if it can be embedded to the client. But this is worth investigating..

Edit.. wait a minute, maybe it could be fullfilled if combined with one my older projects.. it needs some modifications thought.

use case:
1. Citizen logs in to the money sharing site using mobile certificate, Government smart card ID, or maybe bank account.
2. Site shows citizens unclaimed AuroraCoins, 31.8 AUR
3. Site shows QR code which includes site's www-address and sessionid or some random nonce.
4. Modified wallet application reads the QR code, connects to the site and sends the citizens wallet address..
5. Maybe some second confirmation on the site, ie site shows the address and user has to agree.
6. Site sends the coins :-D
7. Citizen is happy!

See the other projects on my git repo. The protocol is for mobile secure login, but it could send any information, why not a wallet address?

Edit2: You can test the mobile secure login at https://cave.dy.fi/

I'd like to have some volunteers to review KGW code. Source is on these two files:
https://github.com/Nite69/bitcoinj-scry ... Chain.java
https://github.com/Nite69/bitcoinj-scry ... arams.java

I'm considering to announce first binary for alfa testers in the near future. But before that I'd first like to have the exchange rate calculation finished (still litecoin values) (so you see the value in Euros/Dollars, hmm. maybe ISK?). Would be nice view at these prices..

Current version is quite stable now, and also peer discovery is fixed now. I'd suggest anyone who has cloned and compiled by themselves to pull the latest version.

Is this fully is place? If it is, is the system openly accessible or do third parties need approval of gov to use it?

just pulled e06e59dd50a3c9fbbbc6545bb38bfa3ab32bd405, getting compile errors:

Code:
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-compiler-plugin:3.1:compile (default-compile) on project wallet: Compilation failure
[ERROR] /mnt/maui/home/nick/bitcoin/Auroracoin-android-wallet/wallet/src/de/schildbach/wallet/ui/InputParser.java:[70,78] cannot find symbol
[ERROR] symbol:   method getHttpAddress()
[ERROR] location: variable bitcoinUri of type com.google.bitcoin.uri.BitcoinURI

Am I missing some dependency?
